NYT + FASHION WEEK

Having been trained in a journalism-based graphic design program, I was often exposed to information design for news (both print and web). Through countless examples in class and viewing award-winning pieces at Society for News Design conferences and contests, I quickly became a huge fan of The New York Times' digital work. (As in major fangirl status.)

NYT never fails to bring a new and innovative vision to web design and user experience. The source of my awe today? Their presentation of Fashion Week.

The minisite offers a complete look at the top designers, expanding each image as you scroll across the collection.

Most news organizations would keep it pretty basic: write a story or two, link to some photo galleries and call it a day. But NYT goes above and beyond, offering a bigger picture overview, then allowing the viewer to enter into the finer details on their own.

It's all about providing to the complete audience spectrum, from those who want to take in every last piece of information, to the sampler that just wants to scan a few parts that stand out to them.
